First Vastu Building Rises in Former USSR

The first Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design building in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will serve as the home of Maharishi Vedic University in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan. Construction funds have come from profits generated by Maharishi Products, a Russian confectionery company selling Italian Tortini.

In 1991, Maharishi sent Mr. Beniamino Leso to the former Soviet Union to create a business that could pay for the construction of Maharishi Vedic University buildings. "Now we are exporting our Tortini to Europe and the United States," says Mr. Leso. By selling products overseas, Mr. Leso hopes to more quickly build a Maharishi Vedic University in each large city of the CIS.
