Ideal Girls’ School Approved for International Students
Heavenly Mountain Ideal Girls’ School recently received approval
from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service to admit
international students. Until there is an Ideal Girls’ School in the
student’s own country, girls entering grades 9- 12 (ages 14-18) who are
fluent in English may apply to attend school in North Carolina. For

Clinic Founds Research Department
Heavenly Mountain Clinic in North Carolina has inaugurated a Clinical
Research Department to document the profound benefits experienced by its
patients using the Clinic’s unique Maharishi Vedic Medicine programs.
Dr. Elie Karam, a distinguished physician from Lebanon, recently joined
Dr. Stuart Rothenberg to direct this new research program.
New Building Completed at Florida, Brahmasthan
The first building in Florida built according to the principles of
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design is a Meditation Hall at the Brahmasthan
(central point) of the state. Florida Meditators and Yogic Flyers who
helped finance and build the Meditation Hall have begun a tradition of
seasonal celebrations and group meditations there, in an ideal a Vastu
located on seven acres of rolling pasture.
Maharishi Vedic Center Update
The roof is on at the Maharishi Vedic Center in Lexington,

Five minutes from the Yale University campus in Connecticut another
Maharishi Vedic Center is moving ahead. The property has been purchased
and the engineer expects to complete the site plan by June 2001.
Around the United States, seven sites are ready for construction, with
local city reviews underway. There are nearly 50 locations in the process
of acquiring the required land, tenant and TM program teacher.
First Vastu Building Rises in Former USSR
The first Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design building in the Commonwealth
of Independent States (CIS) will serve as the home of Maharishi Vedic
University in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan. Construction funds have come
from profits generated by Maharishi Products, a Russian confectionery
company selling Italian Tortini.
In 1991, Maharishi sent Mr. Beniamino Leso to the former Soviet Union
to create a business that could pay for the construction of Maharishi
Vedic University buildings. "Now we are exporting our Tortini to
Europe and the United States," says Mr. Leso. By selling products
overseas, Mr. Leso hopes to more quickly build a Maharishi Vedic
University in each large city of the CIS.
In The News
The March 2001 issue of Natural Health reported on the benefits
of the Transcendental Meditation technique for health. A six-year study of
Canadian health insurance expenses showed a 13 percent reduction in costs
for those who practiced the technique, saving the government $300 million
over a six-year period.
US Vetrans Can Learn Free
The U.S. Veterans Administration will pay the Transcendental
Meditation course fee, as long as a doctor at the VA recommends that the
veteran start the program. Veterans can request their VA
clinician/physician to prescribe the TM program and provide an
"approved for payment" authorization, which can be used as

John Hagelin Featured on Wisdom Channel
In May 2001, the WISDOM Channel broadcast several interviews with John
Hagelin, Ph.D. as part of two ongoing series: "Conversations with
Remarkable People" and "Book Tours." The Channel, which
reaches four millions homes, plans to air additional programming featuring
Dr. Hagelin and other Maharishi University of Management faculty

Vedic Medicine Students Learn Maharishi Vedic Astrology
Students and faculty in the Vedic Medicine program recently completed
the first One-Month Course in Vedic Prevention. Maharishi Vedic Astrology
can play an important role in preventing disease by offering knowledge of
key times to prescribe procedures to neutralize negative influences on
health, such as Maharishi Yagya performances, herbal preparations and
diet.
Rotating University Circles the World
India
"I discovered that when Maharishi refers to India as the ‘Land
of the Veda,’ he not only means the Veda has been preserved there, but
also that the Veda is totally lively there!"
With these words, Robert Hobbs of England summed up the experience of
23 fortunate Continuing Education students who spent four weeks in
February and March retracing the unfoldment of Maharishi’s
Movement—from his first lecture in south India in 1955 to today’s
focus on Total Knowledge.
Switzerland and Italy
During June, a new group of students is touring Italy and Switzerland.
They will climb the Swiss Alps, ride a gondola down the Grand Canal in
Venice, view Michelangelo’s "David" in Florence, visit the
Leaning Tower of Pisa, and boat on the Mediterranean Sea.
Thailand
In November, students of all ages from around the world are invited to
experience Thailand’s breathtaking architecture, beautiful gardens,
ideal climate, and genuinely friendly people. Students will take day trips
to cultural sites, as well as outings within the city of Bangkok. For more

New M.S. in Human Resource Psychology
Starting this fall, the Department of Psychology will offer a
career-oriented master’s degree that entails working with people and
problem solving in a business environment, leading to certification in
human resource management. "Students first gain knowledge and
experience of human development, communication skills, and consulting
skills," said Fred Travis, chair of the Department of Psychology.
"Then they apply this understanding to organizational development,
career strategies, leadership training, and performance assessment."
