Swedish Researchers Find Meditation Brings Stability
Research by the Swedish Air Force has confirmed the profound effects of
the Transcendental Meditation technique for mental health. Using a highly
accurate test that screens a person’s ability to handle stressful
challenges, researchers were able to determine which pilots are most at
risk in high-pressure situations. Pilots who scored poorly on this test
were taught the Transcendental Meditation technique. After one year, their
test scores moved from the highest risk group to the lowest risk group,
while the scores of the control group were unchanged.

Robert Schneider Addresses White House Commission
In December, Robert Schneider, M.D., dean of the College of Maharishi
Vedic Medicine, spoke to the White House Commission on Complementary and
Alternative Medicine Policy. The 19 commission members make policy
recommendations to the President, Secretary of Health and Human Services,
and the U.S. Congress.
Dr. Schneider was invited to testify because of his highly regarded
research on Maharishi Vedic Medicine, which has been supported by nearly
$20 million in grants. He presented Maharishi Vedic Medicine—including
the data on clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness, and patient

The commission was impressed by Dr. Schneider’s research, with one
