Since 1990, when the first teachers of the Transcendental Meditation
program arrived, thousands of people have learned to meditate in the city
of L’vov. A few years later, L’vov became a lively center of coherence
for the Ukraine and neighboring countries when Maharishi Vedic University
and its large group of Yogic Flyers moved north from the Crimea.
L’vov sits on the western border of Ukraine, very near Poland.
Driving 30 minutes out of town, I arrived at the Maharishi Vedic
University facility, a former holiday resort for children during the
Soviet Union era. Set in forests and hills, the deep silence and natural
beauty reminded me very much of Maharishi Vedic University in Vlodrop,
Holland
The Mother Divine program and the Thousand-Headed Purusha program for
Eastern Europe have their homes here, and when entering the building you
immediately feel the soft and powerful wholeness generated by their
presence.
A Transcendental Meditation Program Teacher Training Course for
Russian- speaking countries was nearing completion, and the course
participants’ faces radiated the bliss of Vedic wisdom they had gained.
Over 450 Governors of the Age of Enlightenment have been trained here, 200
of these from Ukraine alone.
More than 1,000 Meditators have completed their TM-Sidhi program
instruction here, returning home to help create groups of Yogic Flyers in
the main cities of the country. Ukraine has 60 Maharishi Open
University Study Centers with more than 2,000 students receiving
classes by satellite.
Maharishi Vedic University is also home to the national administration
for the movement’s very successful activities in Ukraine. Publications
in the Ukrainian and Russian languages are produced, with the translation
department providing all aspects of Maharishi Vedic Science and Technology
to the population in their Mother Tongue. Each issue of Enlightenment
magazine is also translated, and the Russian text is sent to subscribers
along with the original magazine.
Looking to the future, this lighthouse of Total Knowledge will shine
even brighter with continued expansion of the Mother Divine and Purusha
program groups, more Teacher Training Courses, and construction of new
ideal facilities according to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design
