Spring 2001 Veda SM House Tours to Feature 100 Homes
Veda House tours will provide people across North America an
opportunity to experience the peaceful, enlivening and nurturing qualities
of a home constructed according to the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya
Veda design.
On four weekends in May and June, 2001, more than 100 homes will be
open during the first North American Veda House tours, held in Maine, New
Hampshire, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa,
Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Washington and Southern
California in the U.S.; and in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia,
Canada.

Master Plan for New Hampshire Community
This master plan for a National Administrative center and resort

Lecture Series for Health Professionals in Lexington
In October, a lecture series began on the health benefits of the 40
approaches of Maharishi Vedic Medicine, including the Transcendental
Meditation technique. The series, sponsored by the University of Kentucky
Nursing and Medical schools, offers Continuing Medical Education credit to
physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals. For

Iowa Developers Plan to Incorporate a Vedic City
Developers of the Maharishi Center for Perfect Health and World Peace
in Fairfield have petitioned the City Development Board of the State of
Iowa to incorporate 654 acres as Vedic City. Founded in 1992, the
development now comprises 125 residents and a range of hotels, residential
structures, offices, health centers and a Maharishi Vedic Observatory.
Vedic City will be the first city in North America entirely built
according to principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design.
Student Scientist Scores Top Awards
Michelle Punj, a tenth grader at Maharishi School of the Age of
Enlightenment in Fairfield, placed first at the Eastern Iowa Science and
Engineering Fair and received an award from Alliant Energy for scientific
excellence. By testing the paper-backed insulation used to shield pipes
and hot equipment in power plants, Michelle found that published
emissivity rates were faulty and the insulation was hazardous.
At the Intel International Science Fair in Detroit, the United States
Navy awarded Michelle the Science Achievement Award. Michelle also
received The Corrosion Society Certificate of Merit for excellence in
projects influencing corrosion awareness and/or control.
When she’s not in the science lab, Michelle is out on the tennis
court. She received third place in the Girl’s State Tennis Tournament in
2000.
Pandit Debu Chaudhuri Thrills Audiences
In September, Sitar master Pandit Debu Chaudhuri thrilled Fairfield
audiences with two Maharishi Gandharva Veda SM performances— an evening
concert featuring the Bihaga raga and an early morning concert featuring
the Yojia raga. Pandit Chaudhuri and his son Prateek, a rising star on the
sitar, also performed in Providence, Hartford, Toronto and Washington,
D.C.
New Medical Director Joins The Raj
Nancy Lonsdorf, M.D. recently arrived at The Raj, the Maharishi Vedic
Health Center in Fairfield, Iowa. Dr. Lonsdorf comes to The Raj after 13
years as Medical Director of the Maharishi Vedic Health Center in
Washington, D.C. Dr. Lonsdorf is bringing to The Raj a new emphasis on
women's health, utilizing the complete knowledge of Maharishi Vedic
Medicine.

New Teachers Graduate
In September, twenty-two new graduates of the Transcendental
Meditation Program Teacher Training Course—Phases I and III held in
Seelisberg, Switzerland, began teaching in 12 countries: Australia,
Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, New Zealand, Northern
Ireland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the United States.
