Dr.
Schneider Travels Widely
|
In March, Robert Schneider, M.D., joined an expert panel at the
Wellcome Trust in London, the world’s largest medical research
foundation. He was one of only a dozen U.S. experts invited to offer
advice on policy development in the field of natural medicine.
"People are seeing more than ever before the value of Maharishi’s
Vedic knowledge, including the Transcendental Meditation technique,"
says Dr. Schneider. "They are really wanting to apply these practices
in their own national health care settings."
Dr. Schneider, dean of the College of Maharishi Vedic Medicine and
director of the Center for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi
University of Management, has traveled widely this year, introducing
physicians, public health officials and political leaders to recent
research on the Transcendental Meditation technique and cardiovascular
health.
While in London, Dr. Schneider also met with members of the Science and
Technology Committee of the House of Lords, which advises the British
government on national health care policy for complementary and
alternative medicine. "The response was very encouraging," Dr.
Schneider says. "The Peers were so impressed with the research that
they requested a meditation demonstration. They also encouraged continued
dialogues between the Committee and the researchers."
Along with his colleagues, Dr. Schneider gave similar presentations at
prestigious medical institutions across the United States
