Transcendental Meditation Can Help Ward Off Stroke—Researchers Take Hard
Look at Mind-Body Technique
"This is the first time we have been able to show that a mind-body
technique can reverse this disease," says Robert H. Schneider, M.D.,
director of the Center for Natural Medicine and Prevention at the College
of Maharishi Vedic Medicine. "It is easy to do, it feels good, has
major beneficial effects, and it is cost effective."
"This is one of the few proven stress management techniques that
has been tested with our best science," says Noel Bairey-Merz, M.D.,
director of the Preventive Cardiology Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical
Center in Los Angeles. "I would concur that it appears to have an
effect on blood pressure and carotid artery thickness, and it has no
adverse effects. I would say this is ready for prime time."
The Lancet (United Kingdom), March 13, 2000
Meditation May Reduce Heart Attack and Stroke Risk
"Some people say that all relaxation methods are equally
effective, but we know from related studies that this is not true,"
notes Schneider.

Meditation Clears Clogged Arteries.
"My guess would have been that they showed less progression of
disease, but they actually showed regression, which is great," said
cardiologist William Wickemeyer of the Iowa Heart Center in Des Moines.

Relax Your Way to Health
…[this] new study has found it [TM] to be as effective as most drugs
at preventing clogging of the arteries. It is time mainstream doctors
woke up to what many people already know: that some alternative therapies
really can work.
