In reviewing the horoscope of the United States, the nation can expect progress and prosperity during the next three months. But beginning in June, the country will need to be more alert to use its wealth and power wisely in order to retain the support of Natural Law.

Currently, Guru (the planet Jupiter) and Shani (Saturn) are located in the same Rashi (astrological sign). The conjunction of these two planets has significantly influenced life on earth in the past year. According to the Maharishi Vedic Astrology program, each conjunction of these two planets marks the beginning of a new cycle of time.

Since Guru and Shani are the slowest Grahas (planets), their meeting has a greater impact than the conjunctions of faster-moving Grahas. They are now in Mesha Rashi (the astrological sign Aries). As this is the first sign of the zodiac, their conjunction indicates even greater changes in life on earth.

Current Transits Favorable for the United States

For many countries, this conjunction of Guru and Shani has brought danger and difficulties, but the United States has been more fortunate. In the horoscope of the United States, the conjunction takes place in a house where Shani’s destructive influence turns beneficial for the country. This has given the United States greater initiative, success and freedom from obstacles, and has helped it to fare better than other countries.

However, at the beginning of June 2000, both Shani and Guru move to the next astrological sign, Vrishabha Rashi (Taurus), in which they create unfavorable influences for the country and its citizens.

A Yoga for Material Progress and Prosperity

The Sanskrit word Yoga means "Unity," and is used in the Maharishi Vedic Astrology program to describe a specific combination of Grahas (planets). The Mahadasha of Chandra (major period of the Moon) began in October 1999 and will continue for ten years. Chandra (the Moon) is the lord of the house of good fortune and prosperity, and is placed in the house of comfort. Shani, the lord of the house of comfort, is in the house of gain and profit. Budha, (Mercury) the lord of the house of gain and profit, is in the house of good fortune and prosperity. The placement of these three planets is a very favorable Yoga (combination of the Grahas), which increases the prosperity and success of the country and its citizens.

Danger of Misusing Wealth and Power

Since Chandra governs the house of Natural Law, the Chandra Mahadasha offers the American people a chance to enliven and strengthen Natural Law, to introduce the "Rule of Natural Law" in their country. There is, however, a great danger that selfish interests may distort the proper understanding of Natural Law, and that the country could sacrifice its long-term prosperity and greatness for short-term profits.

Budha, the lord of the house of gain, present in the house of Natural Law, indicates that the nation’s interest is primarily in financial and material gains. Rahu (the ascending lunar node) in the same house creates the danger of misusing its wealth and power of the nation to achieve only limited and short-term goals.

In the Navamsha Kundali (a subsidiary birth chart), Chandra is debilitated or weakened, and is in conjunction with a debilitated Rahu. This also indicates a danger that the country’s development may take a wrong turn. For example, this influence from the Grahas could result in foreign policy harmful to other countries, shortsighted laws that harm the American people, or wasteful allocation of financial resources.

This danger is not as pronounced in the current Antardasha of Chandra (sub- period of the moon). However, the danger increases considerably beginning in August 2000, during the Antardasha of Mangala (sub-period of Mars).

Danger of Losing World Leadership

To retain its world leadership and superiority, the United States must garner the support of Natural Law. Exploiting the weakness of other countries violates Natural Law and will lead to a decline in America’s power, and ultimately, to the loss of its leadership position. The United States has enjoyed a fairly good period of time while other countries were suffering from the negative influences of the Grahas (planets). This situation is changing in the coming months.

The change of the transits of Guru and Shani in June 2000 will be favorable for Great Britain. The Antardasha of Shani, which began for Great Britain in August 1999, also gives more strength and independence to the country.

In the horoscope of Germany, the new Antardasha of Budha (planetary subperiod of Mercury) which began at the end of February, and the change in the transit of Shani (Saturn) in June, will increase the support of Natural Law and give the nation more self-assurance.

For France, the new Mahadasha of Shani, beginning in February 2000, may create some problems for the country. comparison of the horoscopes of America and France shows that America will not receive much support from France in this period.

Japan is in Shani Mahadasha (planetary period of Saturn) and will have to struggle for some more years. The transits of Shani, Rahu and Ketu are also becoming less favorable from June 2000 onward. A Changing World Requires New Technologies

The onset of the Age of Enlightenment and the transition to Heaven on Earth has changed the political environment.
