Switzerland: Television Reports on TM program in Swiss Prison
In a nationwide broadcast, Swiss television reported on the only
prison in Europe where inmates can learn the Transcendental Meditation
technique. The TV station accompanied TM program teacher Rolf Bertschinger
on one of his regular visits to the La Stampa prison in the southern part
of Switzerland, showing footage of him leading a group meditation and
checking the TM practice of a prisoner.
The show featured the prison director and several inmates speaking
highly about the great benefits the TM technique has brought to their
lives. More than 40 inmates have learned the TM program, transforming the
quality of life in the prison.
Mozambique: Good News Rises as Nation Creates Coherence
His Excellency President Joachim Alberto Chissano Rama, President of
Mozambique, is the first leader of a nation to create a group of Yogic
Flyers to create national invincibility and promote world peace. He has
also spoken with several heads of state in Africa and leaders of other
countries in the world to encourage them to take the same steps. President
Chissano has declared that he is ready to speak with any head of state
about this plan.
An April 9, 1999 article in Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine
Zeitung documents Mozambique’s miraculous rise: "Ten years ago
Angola and Mozambique both had civil wars. Angola possessed rich resources
of oil and diamonds. According to World Bank statistics, Mozambique was
the poorest country in the world. Ten years later the war in Angola is
worse, whereas Mozambique is considered an example of how to peacefully
settle a quarrel. Its respected government now settles regional conflicts.
The economy has a growth rate of more than 10 percent and zero inflation,
and the currency has risen on the free market in comparison to the US
dollar."
Croatia: Dubrovnik Peace Project Averts Expansion of Hostilities
Yogic Flyers joined the Dubrovnik Peace Project from Croatia, Hungary,
Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, France,
Holland, Denmark, Sweden, USA, Iran, Korea, and Australia.
On April 18, 200 Serbian troops entered the Prevlaka Peninsular
demilitarized zone. It was felt that the purpose of this invasion was to
expand the Kosovo war and involve Croatia in the conflict. On the same
day, just 40 kilometers away, the Dubrovnik Peace Project began with 30
Yogic Flyers. By the next day there were sufficient Flyers (the square
root of one percent of the population of the region) to create coherence
for the Dubrovnik/Prevlaka region. The number of Yogic Flyers continued to
increase during the 10 days of the Serbian occupation. By April 28 there
were 134 Yogic Flyers.
Suddenly on April 28, for no obvious reason, the Serbian troops gave up
their mission in the Peninsular and withdrew. Jadranko Miklec, national
leader for the TM program in Croatia, is now organizing a permanent group
of Yogic Flyers to maintain coherence and restore peace in the Balkans.
