There is no need for war to continue in our world family. The technology to create world peace is readily available today, and every day that we hesitate to apply it is a waste of precious life on earth.

The key to creating and maintaining peace is coherence, orderliness, and harmony—generated through the Maharishi Effect.

Maharishi explains: "When one percent of the world’s population practices my Transcendental Meditation technique, or the square root of one percent of the world’s population practices my TM-Sidhi program of Yogic Flying, the entire world consciousness will become coherent. The whole world will become immune to disturbance or disruption of any kind, and world peace will be assured."

Dr. Volker Schanbacher, a quantum physicist from Germany, has shown that Maharishi’s solution for world peace is verified by modern science. In the brochure, Generating Perpetual World Peace, Dr. Schanbacher brilliantly explains how the principles of quantum physics allow us to understand the Maharishi Effect.

One example is the Meissner Effect, which clearly demonstrates the principle of how inner coherent collective functioning of a system results in the ability to defend against external disturbing influences.

The Field Effect
For many people, it’s not obvious how coherence in consciousness can calm violence in the world, however this is based upon a profound scientific principle known in physics as the "field effect."

We’re all familiar with electromagnetic fields in the form of radio and television waves. Even though we can’t see or hear these fields, with electronic technology such as a radio or TV set, we can tune into them at great distances from the broadcast tower.

A magnetic field is also invisible, yet we can easily see its influence by spreading iron filings around a magnet. The field is unseen, yet its effects are real.

The most fundamental field known to physics is the Unified Field of Natural Law, which gives rise to all the fields and forces in Nature. It is a field of perfect balance, unbounded creativity, and infinite organizing power. It is the field of consciousness.

More than 50 scientific research studies have shown that the field effect generated by Maharishi’s technologies of consciousness restores peacefulness in the collective mind of a nation, resulting in more balance, tolerance and understanding in the thinking of the whole population, including aggressive leaders.

Today we face an urgent situation. No government can guarantee safety to its citizens. The proliferation of weapons, provided in abundance by the arms-producing nations, has created a situation where any nation can quickly be destroyed. Yet governments are unable to accept our solution for peace. They are hesitant to try a new technology that is not widely understood by the population.

Universities of World Peace
On May 19, Maharishi sent an international delegation to North America to enlist the support of the wealthy and influential in founding Maharishi Universities of World Peace, which will create coherence in world consciousness to prevent future conflicts from erupting.

Land has already been secured for many of the 17 campuses planned around the world. India will host five universities of 7,000 students each. Twelve more will circle the globe, with one in each of the 12 Time Zones established by Maharishi Global Administration through Natural Law (see the map on page 33).

One thousand Vedic Pandits from India will be students at these 12 universities. In addition to their studies, they will create the Maharishi Effect through their group practice of Yogic Flying. Each university will pass this wave of coherence around the world day after day, year after year, so that the coherence is always lively on earth and is never lost.

Delegation members Dr. Neil Paterson, Dr. Volker Schanbacher, Dr. John Hagelin, Barry Charles, M.D., and Dr. Doug Henning are meeting with prominent and influential people of North America to explain that the world situation has gone out of hand, and that unless we do something to provide real safety and security to the nation, there could be very dire consequences.
