New Study Finds Lowered Blood Pressure in Teens
Research at the Georgia Prevention Institute of the Medical College of
Georgia in Augusta has found that the Transcendental Meditation technique
can benefit the cardiovascular functioning of adolescents who are at risk
for developing hypertension. The group practicing the TM technique showed
greater decreases in resting blood pressure compared to controls, as well
as greater decreases in blood pressure reactivity to stressful situations.
The study was conducted by Maharishi University of Management Ph.D.
graduate Vernon Barnes and colleagues at the Prevention Institute.
First Physician’s Office Built According to Natural Law
In Bakersfield, California, Ravi Patel, M.D. has recently completed
construction of a 25,500-sq. ft. clinic according to the principles of
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design. Dr. Patel reports that his patients and
staff feel very peaceful and happy in the building, and notes that his
practice has grown within the first few months of moving in. "Perhaps
the most important benefit I’m experiencing," says Dr. Patel,
"is a very strong desire to achieve balance in all aspects of my life—regularity
with my TM and TM-Sidhi programs; more balance between work and home; and
greater purity of life."
Yogic Flying on National Television
On May 6, over 2.5 million Americans watched Yogic Flying on
"Roseanne", a popular national daytime television show. An
excited Roseanne Barr told viewers they would see a scientific method to
stop the war in Yugoslavia and promised this would be the best show she
had ever done.
She introduced Dr. John Hagelin as "one of the world's greatest
geniuses," and he told the audience that modern science now
recognizes a Unified Field that pervades everything in the universe and
equates with human consciousness. He described how we can positively
affect each other through this field, even at a distance, if we use the
right technique.
Dr. Hagelin also discussed the research on Yogic Flying showing that
group practice can significantly reduce crime and violence, even in war
torn areas. He said it had lowered war deaths and injuries during the
Lebanon War and that he was recommending Yogic Flying to NATO leaders to
resolve the crisis in the Balkans
After the demonstration Roseanne interviewed three of the four Yogic
Flyers, who told her "from inside you feel connected to the whole
universe" and "you just can’t resist popping into the
air."
