"Purusha is a very ideal program…It is a wonderful program for the individual to harness the full creative potential of Natural Law and use it to enjoy bliss. World peace is a by-product of it; heavenly life on earth is a by-product of it." —Maharishi
Before Darcy Dill joined the Purusha program, he was happily managing his chiropractic practice and overseeing his resort and conference center in Estes Park, Colorado. "I remember the first time I visited the Purusha group in their beautiful mountain retreat in North Carolina—I noticed how much deeper my meditations were. I was so inspired by my visit that I decided to join. Once I began flying with the large group, the silence was so profound that I found myself drawn into deep transcendence. My meditations were incredible. Now I have time to manage my investments and do an extended meditation program, too. I really enjoy being able to accomplish both."
Maharishi founded the Purusha program on October 20, 1981. It is designed for single men to gain profound inner experience, perfect the TM-Sidhi program, and rise quickly to enlightenment. Many members from around the world have assembled together and are living at The Maharishi Spiritual Center of America. The program now offers a wide range of possibilities: Members can "retire early" like Darcy Dill, bring their business with them, or work a few hours each day for the expansion of Maharishi’s worldwide movement.
"It is easier than ever for someone to join the program," says Charlie Ferguson, who arrived in October. Eleven years ago, Charlie, a software consultant, received his MBA with over 200 members of Purusha at Maharishi University of Management. "I decided that I wanted to become financially self-sufficient, so I began working in business after I graduated," Charlie says. "I’ve always been most happy when I have been in a group of Sidhas that are 100% focused on growth of consciousness. But I also enjoy working on challenging and interesting software projects. Until recently these two interests seemed to be mutually exclusive.
"But several months ago, I asked my employers if I could work for them while living in North Carolina. They surprised me by saying, "Yes." Meditating with Purusha and working a few hours a day gives me the best of all worlds. I think the Purusha program has actually boosted my efficiency."
Michel Teboul couldn’t wait to join the Purusha program after finishing his master’s degree at Maharishi University of Management. "My studies gave me a tremendous thirst for deeper experiences, so the day after graduation I came to North Carolina. At first I was doing a telephone sales job to support myself here. But what I really wanted was to spend my activity hours immersed in Maharishi’s knowledge. I got the inspiration to put Maharishi’s translation and commentary on the Bhagavad Gita on audiotape, and it has turned out to be a tremendous success. We’ve sold sets worldwide and have just finished taping Maharishi’s Science of Being. I’m having wonderful experiences and really enjoying 200% of life."
Thom Blair joined the program two years ago when he was 23. He felt he wanted to do something great for himself and for the world. "Before I came, I tried to find fulfillment by creating beautiful things through art, or through writing, or by designing enthralling computer games." Describing his experience on Purusha, Thom’s face shines with enthusiasm: "I have found fulfillment just welling up inside me. Every day, every facet of my life is flooded by the fullness of absolute bliss."
Thom explains as he sits down at his state-of-the-art computer graphics workstation, "These days I spend my activity hours designing brochures and web pages for the Transcendental Meditation movement," Thom says. His work has taken him to India, where he designed a new admissions software program for Maharishi Institute of Management, and later to Vlodrop, Holland where he was fortunate to meet personally with Maharishi.
"I think that everyone who joins Purusha finds that it opens up more possibilities in their life," says Darcy Dill. "This is a very friendly, coherent and dedicated group. When I first came just for a visit, I could feel the profound silence, so I came back for a one-week course. Then I decided to join the group and stay for a year. Who knows? When my year is up, I could go back to Colorado. Or I might find that it is just too charming to leave."Michael Busch is a long-time member of the Purusha program.
On October 20, 1998, the 17th anniversary of the Purusha program, Maharishi inspired an initiative to create a group of 1,000 members in each of the 12 Time Zone Capitals around the world. All single men are invited to take advantage of this precious opportunity. For more information on the program, please call (828) 265-3930 or visit their web site at
