Canadian Physicians Gain Medical Education Credit for the TM Program
Canadian physicians may now receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for learning the TM technique. Approval has been granted for a special course designed to familiarize physicians with the research and applications of the TM program in patient care, together with the opportunity to learn the technique themselves to enhance their own health. Physician health is an important area of concern in the current medical climate in Canada. The first course was held in Kingston, Ontario in November, with future courses planned for Ottawa, Toronto and other major Canadian cities.

Consciousness and Psychology Conference Draws Top Researchers
Faculty and researchers from leading universities presented breakthrough research in the field of consciousness during an October conference at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. Entitled "Consciousness and the Future of Psychology," the conference attracted top thinkers and researchers from a dozen leading universities including Harvard, UCLA, Princeton, Duke, Boston College and the University of Michigan.
"Research into the field of consciousness has made extraordinary progress in the past decade," said Jamie Grant, Ed.D., a faculty member who organized the conference. "One of the most exciting breakthroughs is in the study of higher states of consciousness. For a long time, developmental psychologists assumed that the classic stages of development stopped with adolescence. New research however shows that cognitive development can continue right on through adulthood, and some of the presentations offered empirical confirmations of higher states of consciousness."
Abstracts of the papers presented at the conference are posted at www.mum.edu/alex_conf/.
Science of Being and Art of Living on Audiotape
Maharishi’s first book, The Science of Being and Art of Living, was published in 1963. It is one of those rare books with something for everyone—the seeker of deeper principles in life, the new Meditator, and those who have practiced Maharishi Vedic Science programs for many years. Each reading of this classic brings new insights into oneself and one’s life. The full text has recently been recorded as a book-on-tape. Produced at The Maharishi Spiritual Center of America in North Carolina, it includes 15 hours of readings by Dr. Mike Tompkins. The twelve-audiocassette set sells for $65.00.
The tapes can be ordered from MUM Press at 800-831-6523: www.mum.edu/press:
