Celebrating Perfection in Education
by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
"The objective approach of modern
science has ended; it has discovered pure subjectivity—the field
of consciousness—the field of the inner intelligence of the
scientist, which the scientist can only investigate within himself.
"Everything about this field of consciousness, and everything
about its applied values, is available to the scientist within
himself—within his own body, within his own physiology, which is
the home of his own consciousness." —Maharishi
In this beautifully illustrated and well documented book, Maharishi
lays out the clear relationship between recent discoveries of
physics, chemistry, mathematics and physiology and the timeless
wisdom of Vedic Science. The three-in-one structure described by
Vedic Science—unity of knower, process of knowing, and
known—correlates precisely with the Unified Field uncovered by
modern science.
Modern scientists, in their discovery that the Unified Field
underlies all the physical forms and phenomena of creation, have
reached the end of their objective approach to gaining knowledge.
They have come face to face with the field of consciousness, the
self-referral intelligence at the basis of all objective material
creation. To continue their quest for knowledge, they must now take
advantage of inner technologies to perform research into
consciousness. As the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature is
non-material, it can only be known or investigated on the
subjective, self-referral level of life.
Written primarily for educators in India, this book is a great
introduction to Maharishi’s theme of Total Knowledge, the Unified
Field of all the Laws of Nature which is the common basis of all
streams of knowledge. It is a "must read" for those who
want to keep up-to-date with Maharishi’s thinking.
"All this knowledge has been kept alive since time immemorial
in the oral tradition of the Vedic Pandits of India for the very
reason that the Unified Field and its self-referral dynamics is the
basis of the entire diverse creation, and therefore cannot ever be
forgotten or lost; being consciousness, fully awake within itself,
it cannot ever forget itself, it cannot ever be lost. On its own
level it is always awake." —Maharishi
Genetic Engineering: The
Hazards Vedic Engineering: The Solutions
By John Fagan, Ph.D.
"At present, there are powerful economic and political forces
driving the widespread implementation of genetic technologies. The
race is in full swing to capitalize on these technologies and to
recoup the billions of dollars that have already been invested in
research and development. In the rush to make the most of this
opportunity, government leaders, industrialists, and scientists are
underestimating and, in many cases, disregarding the dangers of
genetic engineering." —Dr. John Fagan
In November 1994, molecular biologist John Fagan stunned the
scientific community when he returned more than $600,000 in research
grant money to the National Institutes of Health to protest against
the rampant experimentation with genetic engineering. Dr. Fagan’s
ethical stance has won the praise of leading scientists throughout
the world.
In this book, Dr. Fagan explains that a revolution is taking place
in our supermarkets. Over seventy percent of processed foods, from
baby food to cereals, now contain genetically altered ingredients.
Although the people consuming these foods have been given little or
no information, Dr. Fagan and other scientists have serious concerns
for the public’s health and safety.
In the United States and Canada, hundreds of packaged foods contain
genetically engineered ingredients, such as canola oil, soy flour,
potatoes, tomatoes, and corn derivatives, including cornstarch and
corn syrup.
Dr. John Fagan first began to understand the dangers of this new
technology as a scientist using recombinant DNA technique in his own
research. In the process of genetic engineering, a scientist cuts
into the DNA, and then splices in foreign DNA to alter its
expression. Not surprisingly, things can, and do go wrong. The
result is food that could be toxic, allergenic, or reduced in
nutritional value.
"The time has come when we can choose a research direction that
will contribute most powerfully to life on earth," says Dr.
Fagan. "Rather than continue on the dangerous level of
fragmented knowledge of the physical structure of living things, it
is possible at this time to explore the structure of intelligence
within the physiology."
Dr. John Fagan is a professor of
physiology and biochemistry at Maharishi University of Management.
