New Hampshire HMO’s Reimburse
Members for Learning the TM Technique
Two New Hampshire health maintenance organizations (HMO’s) have agreed
to reimburse their subscribers a part of the Transcendental Meditation
program course fee. Healthsource, New Hampshire’s largest HMO and the
insurance provider for 10,000 state employees, now pays $200 to each
member learning the TM technique. "Hopefully, this benefit will help
encourage more people to learn about TM," comments Stefanie Rauscher,
Health Promotion Coordinator at Healthsource. Matthew Thornton Health
Plan, another New Hampshire HMO, currently reimburses $75 of the TM
program course fee to its members.

Research Confirms TM Technique Is Most Effective
Against Stress

Ken Walton evaluated research reviews and meta-analyses of 650 scientific
studies. The research shows the TM technique to be the most effective
procedure to relax the body, lower high blood pressure, decrease anxiety
and reduce cigarette, alcohol and drug use. It also produces the greatest
increase in self-actualization, a rating of balanced personal development.
