Maharishi's Absolute Theory of Government
"The achievements of government are the
achievements of national consciousness, and every individual in
the nation shares the credit for them. Likewise, the failures of
government are the failures of national consciousness, and every
individual shares the blame for them.
"Although the members of every government have their own
individuality and their own opinions of the nation’s needs,
while engaged in the process of governing, their actions are
determined by factors beyond their personal lives—by the
collective destiny of the nation." —Maharishi, from Maharishi’s
Absolute Theory of Government: Automation in Administration
This powerful book is equally relevant reading for government
leaders and for Meditators of every background. Through a
remarkable development of profound knowledge and compelling logic,
Maharishi provides an in-depth analysis of how any government can
raise national consciousness and "administer the nation as
efficiently and as silently as the Government of Nature,
spontaneously doing justice to all." The formula is to create
the Maharishi Effect through "A Group for a Government,"
the square root of one percent of a nation’s population
practicing the TM-Sidhi program together on a daily basis.
Read Maharishi’s Absolute Theory of Government to learn
about the range of your own potential, how you can live daily life
more and more in accord with universal law, "in waves of
harmony, happiness, success, and fulfillment." You will
discover that by developing the full potential of your
consciousness, you can make the greatest possible contribution to
the good of society.
If at first you are unfamiliar with some of the concepts of Vedic
science or principles of modern science discussed, keep on
reading. The same terms and concepts are explored from many
different angles. By the end of the book you’ll be amazed at how
much knowledge you have mastered. And be sure to read the
footnotes—they offer a second layer of knowledge that is
extremely rich and satisfying.
Maharishi’s vision of ideal government is unique and fulfilling:
"Administration is a spiritual practice. In essence it is the
theme to promote enlightenment in all. Any government, following
this natural theme of administration, will enjoy its most laudable
parental role for the whole population, will be able to satisfy
everyone, and will enjoy long life in fulfillment." |

Manual
For a Perfect Government
by
John Hagelin, Ph.D.
"Now for the first time, governments
can lead. Through the educational programs set forth in this book,
they can directly expand the comprehension, or consciousness, of the
people. And by establishing a national coherence-creating group,
they can raise the collective consciousness and bring all of life
into accord with natural law, eliminate problems at their source,
and thereby directly improve the destiny of the nation." —Dr.
John Hagelin, from Manual for a Perfect Government: How to
Harness the Laws of Nature to Bring Maximum Success to Governmental
Administration.
Dr. John Hagelin, a world-renowned particle theorist, has spent much
of the past quarter-century, under Maharishi’s guidance, leading a
scientific investigation into the foundations of human
consciousness. The goal of his research has been to structure a
"grand unification" of these two traditions of
knowledge—modern and ancient—to provide practical solutions to
the social problems besetting our world today.
The pivotal point of Dr. Hagelin’s book is a rigorously precise
analysis demonstrating that "pure consciousness, the most
fundamental aspect of human existence, and the unified field, the
most fundamental aspect of everything else in nature, are
identical." In Chapter 4, he presents impressive research
documenting the applied value of this underlying unity of
consciousness and matter: Large coherence-creating groups have
repeatedly reduced crime, accidents and international tensions,
while improving the effectiveness of government.
In the Conclusion, Dr. Hagelin extends great hope, as well as a
warning, to today’s government leaders. "Those governments
that act first will be the most fortunate—the first to enjoy
freedom from problems and the full support of the governed. Others,
who are slow to take advantage of these solutions, will ultimately
be replaced by those that will."
Dr. John Hagelin received his Ph.D. in physics from Harvard
University, and is currently Director of the Institute of Science,
Technology and Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management.
