You’d like to build a house. What do you think
of first? Probably buying the land, the size and style of the home, the
number of bedrooms, possibly even the colors you’ll use inside and out.
But have you considered the slope of the land, the direction the entrance
will face, the proportions of the house and its rooms? Where should the
dining room be for best digestion, and the bedroom for most refreshing
sleep?
According to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design, these are just a few of the
important questions to be asked right from the start. Maharishi Sthapatya
Veda design is the most ancient system of planning homes, communities,
towns, and entire countries in accord with Natural Law, which connects
individual life with cosmic life.
"Most people today are not aware that many problems can arise from
lack of proper orientation of the buildings they live and work in, or from
fundamental violations of Natural Law inherent in the building’s design,
or Vastu," says Henry Clark, an architect with nine years
experience in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design. "Improper Vastu
can create ill effects including sickness, loss of fortune, obstacles to
progress and success, blocks to creativity and intelligence, and
anti-social behavior."
One basic tenet of proper Vastu is that the building’s entrance
should face due east or due north—any other direction allows negative
influences to affect the owner and tenants. This means that seventy-five
percent of all homes and buildings in the world are in violation of
Natural Law due to their orientation alone.
Doug Greenfield, has developed or consulted on more than 150 Maharishi
Sthapatya Veda building projects. "Now for the first time in North
America," says Greenfield, "we have a building technology that
can transform the way people think and feel—creating homes and offices
that by their mere design support good health, clear thinking, happiness,
harmony and good fortune for a family or business."
What do people say who actually live and work in these buildings? Doug
Neish of Telegroup, an international telecommunications firm says
"Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture makes for a first class
working environment. Since Telegroup moved into its new building, it has
gone public and expanded its business globally. I recommend it to any
company who wants more productivity, profits, improvement in the health
and harmony of their staff, as well as an overall increase in the good
fortune of their business."
In 1996 Chris and Dee Johnson built a home designed according to proper Vastu.
"In terms of our children," remarks Dee, "moving into this
house has had a tremendous effect on their inner stability–on their
level of happiness and the success they have at school. They just feel so
completely nourished."
"We placed each room according to the recommendations and the result
is amazing," says Michael Dimick of his new home. "There is a
sense of rightness wherever you are in the house." And according to
Rogers Badgett, owner of The Raj Maharishi Ayur-Veda Health Center,
"These structures are generators of positivity. They are powerhouses
of positivity."
So before you buy your land, and before you build, remember that Nature
has designs for your home and office.
